Karang is the large, circular, forested volcano below and to the left of the center of this NASA International Space Station image (N is to the upper right) is. It is located to the SE of the 15-km-wide Pleistocene Danau caldera visible above the center of the image. There are two craters on the SE flank of Karang volcano, the highest peak in this volcanic region at the western tip of Java.

Gunung Karang volcano in westernmost Java was constructed SE of the 15-km-wide Pleistocene Danau caldera. Two craters, Kawah Welirang and Kawah Haji, display fumarolic activity and are found on the eastern flanks, which may be of Holocene age (Bronto 1995, pers. comm.). The forested andesitic and basaltic volcano is the highest of a group of stratovolcanoes in the Danau caldera area and lies across a low saddle from Pulosari volcano.

Gunung Karang adalah sebuah gunung berapi kerucut yang terletak di Kabupaten Pandeglang, Banten, Indonesia. Gunung ini masuk kedalam kelompok Stratovolcano yang memiliki potensi meletus pada masa mendatang. Gunung Karang memiliki ketinggian 1.778 meter di atas permukaan laut dengan puncaknya yang bernama Sumur Tujuh. Gunung Karang merupakan gunung tertinggi di Provinsi Banten. Gunung ini pun merupakan gunung paling utara di Pulau Jawa berdasarkan garis lintang astronomisnya.
