Ringkasan geologi

Akandanayama is located NW of Abo Pass in south-central Honshu. It is a stratovolcano composed of a lava dome, lava flow, and pyroclastic deposits. Shirataniyama volcano and the active Yakedake volcano are to the N. Volcanic activity began with the formation of a lava dome that covered Shirataniyama, ending about 10,000 years ago. Collapse of the dome produced pyroclastic deposits, and afterwards a landslide went SW from the summit (JMA, 2013).
