Spectrum Range

Gunung api perisai · Canada · 2430 m

The Spectrum Range is located south of Mount Edziza within the Mount Edziza-Spectrum Range volcanic complex, shown in this July 2018 Planet Labs satellite image monthly mosaic (N is at the top; this image is approximately 48 km across). The edifice is deeply eroded and largely consists of rhyolite domes. The Mess Lake Lava Field is the darker brown area NW of the lighter-colored domes.

Ringkasan geologi

The Spectrum Range, named for its extensive colorful solfataric alteration, is one of four large composite volcanoes that make up the Mount Edziza-Spectrum Range volcanic complex, in which a predominately rhyolitic lava dome complex overlies a basal basaltic shield volcano. The Pliocene center contains Pleistocene subglacial and subaerial cones on the SW flank and Holocene pyroclastic cones and lava flows on the NW and SW sides. The Mess Lake Lava Field on the NW flank consists of young lava flows and tephra from three pyroclastic cones, including The Ash Pit, which may be the youngest volcanic feature of this complex.

Ringkasan Wikipedia

Ringkasan Inggris

The Spectrum Range, formerly gazetted as the Spectrum Mountains and the Rainbow Mountains, is a small mountain range in Cassiar Land District of northwestern British Columbia, Canada. Located on the Tahltan Highland, it borders the Skeena Mountains in the east and the Boundary Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the west. The range reaches an elevation of 2,430 metres at Kitsu Peak and is surrounded by the Arctic Lake Plateau in the southwest and the Kitsu Plateau in the northwest. It lies at the southern end of the Mount Edziza volcanic complex which includes the two neighbouring plateaus and the Big Raven Plateau to the north. The range is drained on all sides by streams within the Stikine River watershed and, unlike Mount Edziza to the north, contains relatively small separate glaciers. Mount Edziza Provincial Park is the main protected area surrounding the mountain range.
